The new year holds the promise of rebirth; it offers us a chance to refresh our heart and soul, to reinvent our stories, and to restart things that may have fallen by the wayside. It’s a chance to plant seeds for the coming months and point ourselves toward the future we wish to see. There are so many crystals that can support these goals, but after reflecting on the world’s ongoing turbulence and my own personal hopes for 2025, I’ve come to see that moldavite may be one of the finest allies to support us at this juncture.
Moldavite is a stone shrouded in mystery, magic, and misinformation. It is not a crystal; rather it is a natural glass created by meteoric impact millions of years ago. It belongs to a class of materials known as tektites, whose name is taken from the Greek word for “molten.” Moldavite has been popular among crystal healers since the 1980s, and it periodically experiences moments of heightened awareness and popularity.
This mysterious green gemstone has been linked to extraterrestrials, fallen angels, and the Holy Grail. It is said to be a gift from the heavens that accelerates your spiritual path. Many people experience intense effects when they first get to know this stone.
Moldavite heralds transformation. It heightens intuition, strengthens our imaginal skills (like dreaming, visualization, clairvoyance), and helps slough off old and outdated patterns. Think of it as the chrysalis in which we can be reborn; it helps us take flight into a new chapter of our lives. The stone itself has experienced cataclysmic events, and thus it can provide the guidance and support when it feels as if our own world is faced with dramatic changes.
It’s important to know that moldavite isn’t the right stone for everyone. It’s relatively rare, which can make even small pieces costly these days. There are also a ton of forgeries on the market. Additionally, the intense effects can make some people shy away from it. In my upcoming Moldavite Masterclass I will talk about effective ways to work with this stone to prevent burnout, and I’ll also share some potent alternatives to moldavite if you’d prefer something gentler, less expensive, or easier to find.
Here’s a simple technique for partnering with moldavite for transforming the year ahead for the better. Hold your stone in your nondominant hand and reflect on the past year. Picture the ups and downs, the good and the bad–all of it. Now bring the stone to your heart and think about how you’d like the next year to be different. Outline some concrete goals or intentions, being sure you understand the why behind them. When you are ready to share these intentions with the world, place the stone in your dominant hand and raise it from your heart. Reach as far up as you can, picturing the moldavite gemstone carrying your goals upwards and outwards, projecting them into the universe all around you. Hold that visualization for a few moments, then return the stone to your heart. Take a few deep breaths and center yourself in gratitude.
Your ritual is complete, but you can repeat it anytime you’d like to shift the energies from the past and steer yourself toward a brighter tomorrow.
This is but one of many ways that you harness the interstellar magic of moldavite. Click here to register for the moldavite masterclass!
